Oops.

I accident-lly a whole month and a half :/ but I’m back. Major changes have been going down. First off, I’m moving back ‘cross country… which I’m actually excited about! Second, my vegetarianism has become much easier to handle. I have modified my diet to include fish, however, because it is far too healthy to cut out in my opinion. And now that I have become used to not eating red meat, chicken, & pork I have given myself the option of fish, where before I chose fish last. It’s done nice things for me. So I suppose technically now I’m a pescatarian instead of a vegetarian.

That is pretty much where I stand now. Vegetarianism, check. Two jobs so I can afford to pack my kitties and husband up and move again, check. Nerdism, on-hold as I havent had time to play games, but still there! I’ll check back in soon!

Nerdette

I realize that I haven’t been true to my name as of late. I’ve barely made any references to my true nerdism. So I am going to humor myself and put myself out into the world as the clueless nerdette. Here are just a few of the things that help make up what I love about the nerd world.

1. My favorite video game series: Kingdom Hearts. I’ve been smitten for over 7 years now, and I’ve played all the games. You could say I’m obsessed.

2. I am a MASSIVE fangirl. Here is my conquest wishlist: Dante (Devil May Cry), Vincent Valentine …. actually, add Cloud, Zack, and Sephiroth to that list as well (Final Fantasy series), Riku & Terra (Kingdom Hearts series), Chris Redfield (Resident Evil), Lightning (oh, she’s a girl? Who cares! She’s f***ing hot!), Link (Legend of Zelda), and lastly, ALL/ANY of the guys from Gears of War :)

3. I’ve mentioned it before, but I’ll elaborate. I. Love. Batman. Comics, animated series’, movies, fanart, video games… you name it, I’ve been all over it. Thank goodness I grew up with a younger brother who loved him too, or else I never would have been able to snatch his toy Batmobile to play with. I’ve vowed that I’ll own a driveable replica one day!

4. Gamers are my peeps. Seriously. I’ve been very lucky to grow up in a town here gaming was the norm, and I’ve had the pleasure of making most of the town’s gamers my friends. NOTHING beats a massive get-together of almost 20 friends with large screen tv’s, Xbox’s, and pizza spread all over the place as a tournament ensues. Name-calling and playful banter is abundant, and the girls and I usually sit back and watch the boys during our breaks from gaming and talk about which character we think is the hottest or has the best weapons. This is my world, where I feel most welcome.

And 5. I am very lucky to know my husband, as he is also a gamer/nerd. He is intelligent and light-hearted, and he has given me the room and knowledge I needed to expand farther into the realm of nerdism. I am so happy to have him, and I love that we can delve into what we love together. I owe him so much, and I am happy to be his nerd wife.

A change…

I’m noticing that since I haven’t been eating meat regularly, when I do take a taste here or there, it doesn’t taste as good as it always did before. And I’m happy! It means I’ve finally broken my crazy cravings. Because now twice a day I crave my natural fruit smoothies that I make and my veggie wraps instead of meat. And by meat, I mostly mean fast food, which is another habit I’ve seemed to have broken. I’m happy with this progress. I’ve also been doing my cardio and strength training more, which only adds to my healthy goals. I’m finally well on my way!

The park where I work sponsored a 5k this morning, and at first I grumbled because I had to be clocked in before the sun rose. But once I saw the power these runners and walkers had, and the determination, I found myself inspired. Not to run (I did enough of that in high school track) but to be more consistent with my workouts. To give you a little taste of why I’m so pumped, take a look at the man in the blue shorts. He kept steady pace with our bikes the whole 3 miles, sprinting, and finished first at 17:50. And that wasn’t his fastest time. Pretty amazing, right?!

Chip lovers, fear not!

I love my potato chips, to the point where weight loss is pretty difficult to obtain. But I recently decided to go with wheat crackers, which have all the crunch and salt taste, but are a better alternative for me. With the fiber they contain, I only end up eating a small handful before I’m full. And I don’t get hungry again for some time. I purchase the store brand because they are cheapest. They taste great, and you can also use healthy dips with them, like hummus or my favorite, peanut butter. So needless to say, my mindless chip snacking habit seems to be broken… let’s hope for good!
